According to a new book, the Obama Administration has the ‘biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever.’
“Taxpayers spent $1.4 BILLION dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks. In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.”
Okay, it’s bullshit to compare the President to the Royal Family. The Royal Family not only has their own funds, but also uses state police, etc which is not included in the $57.8 million cited. Add to that the fact that the Royal Family is a glorified figurehead of a nation’s political system, and you, in fact, are comparing apples to oranges.
Now comparing Obama to Bush would be fair game. My guess, though, is that it will be a little too comparable.
Edit: It is comparable. “Total Cost of All White House Elements, for fiscal year 2008: $1,592,875,254” (via, pg 32)

Yes. No one can complain about tumblr election coverage being completely left-leaning.
